  • Nom nom!!

    Hold me close.
    ---------------------------------------------

Today's blog is all about food, food, foooddd!!! and is terribly overdue. My apologies! I'll start straight away!

    Makizo Restaurant.

Okay, don't blame me, i had this around last week sometime so my tastebud memory might be a bit blurry but here goes nothing!

    Name: Makizo Japanese Restaurant.
Location: 210C New South Head Road , Edgecliff.
(conveniently located next to my school!)

After a long day at school, my fellow hungry students and i stumbled into Makizo searching for the "yummy food" that we had heard about. Nothing lifts my mood more than good service, a quiet atmosphere with gentle instrumental music and the delicious smell of good food in the air!! And now, to the food!

The Wakame salad! It's really simple but super yummy!

Tempura with Udon! Cool arrangement huh?

My dish, Teriyaki Chicken with Wasabi mashed potato. I must admit, this sounded like a weird combo. Usually, when eating teriyaki chicken i have rice, but wasabi mashed potato?! What the noodle?! But i can tell you, it was really worth the try and after all, they serve "modern" Japanese Cuisine. The mashed potato would melt in your mouth and had a subtle aftertaste of wasabi. The mash combined with the tender juicy chicken pieces was the perfect match. I usually am not the sort to take spice, but the wasabi was very subtle and thinking about it makes me want some now!

Banana tempura. Again, what the noodle?! This is not your ordinary desert dish. I have to admit, im not much of a banana person but it was hard to resist the sweet crunchiness of the banana tempura. If anyone reading this right now decides to go to Makizo, i recommend they try this but thats just a thought. Oh and

    and now....
    onto actual cooking!!!!

    Soph's baking day!

Now that we've eaten food, we question to ourselves.. can we make food?

Just a quick shot standing in her pristine clean kitchen... RAR!

    Pokemon Cupcakes.

I know, so... it kinda looks like lumpy yellow turd atm wtf.

VrmmmMMmm! Man, holding that electric beater was dangerous but so funn!!

    I look pretty happy, yes?!
(and would you look at her view in the background, that's so mad cool!! Her view is amazing!)

Here's another picture of it, i really love this picture of Sam and me.
(note: we look like asian tourists no?)
    and...
    the end product.

Lumpy... pokeballs wtf. Must've been some real retarded pokemons in there!
Okay, i'll stop lying... it's because when the cupcakes come out, they kind of looked like.. this.

Which looks more like scones or muffins to me......
and, when we got sick of pokeballs, we decorated some more..

Guess which one's mine? and Sam's one is looking dangerously and poisonously blue.
    NOM NOM!!!

  • Secret.

Cherish this dream, happiness bursting at the seams.
    -------------------------------

    Holidays.

Long time no blog (once again...) i've been trying to catch up with sleep, mental and physical well being and my social life before i crash into another busy term. So basically the pattern has been sleep, eat, go out, eat more, play, sleep and then repeat. And errr, studying has been slotted in there somewhere i promise! (So somewhere in my next blog there will be a pic of my artwork). Although i don't really consider two weeks as a holiday, thanks to everyone who made it enjoyable!

    Christina and Shaneyes.

Unfortunately, i wasn't there for long, but Happy Birthday to Christina and Shaneye!!

    Hotpot Night at Vinces.

I must say, this is a break from our usual outing routines and was much more economical too. Who says you need to go out to have fun? From cooking to poker to jenga, time really flew past. I also learnt that you can use your rice cooker to hot pot, this is truly asian style.

Photo time! (stealing off Kristy's photos)

    Trampolining!
    and....
    to the kitchen we go!

Vince, desperately searching for his hot pot set oh noes!

The spotted cabbage (mini black dots on cabbage is normal apparently... or so says bargain hunter Sylvia who bought it because it was "big and cheap")

Being in a kitchen next to this one is sure scary.

Hard at work, the boys too!

I have such asian squinty eyes here!
    and
    .
    .
    .
    Food time!!

I bought my own two min noodles incase the cooking failed, but luckily it was saved by Jacky who went home to grab his own hotpot set.

...and there it is! The hot pot in its steamy boiling yumminess!

    Food time!

    The rice cooker wayyy..
    and then...
    GAME TIME!

    Mahjong! how asian.

and then, it was time for home!

P.S. Yes i did get my haircut and you can see it in the pics.

  • Hello hello.

    Romeo and Juliet lives.
    --------------------------------------------

    Location: Canberra, Australia.
    Event: Art assessment. (eww...)
    Date: 25th March - 26th March.
Time: waking up at 5am, returning next day at 5pm. (sleep deprived!!)
Purpose: Using available exhibitions to answer one of three essay questions.

Highlights: Got to cut in line for "Masterpiece from Paris" exhibition (the queue was fricken massive!!), worked well with friends (we were the most organised!), got the essay over and done with and shopping (found a pair of really cute earrings!)

Lowlights: Sleep deprivation, crappy frozen food, mosquitoes (kill them all!), temperature moodswings (hot and then cold like the temperature PMS), restrictions (not allowed to have any mobile, camera, net, ipod access - teachers thought we could use them to cheat so not allowed!)

Overall summary: 5am wake ups are not good, it leads to bad skin, bad temper and bad appearance. The "Masterpieces from Paris" was awesome, when i actually started appreciating the fact that i may never see it again in my life again unless i fly to Paris. So cliche, but i fell in love with "Starry Night" - Vincent Van Gogh. The privilege of being able to cut in line is also uber awesome, but it means death stares from people who have been queuing up for hours. Stress and camps usually end up in junk food snacking and crazy laughs. This is our last Canberra camp ever. <3. Even though we were stressed and it felt annoying at the time, this is something for us to cherish.

  • Imagine.

The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you..

    A glimpse:

    Bloggers block.

So strange, i haven't felt it in a long time but i guess i have so much i want to say that i don't know how to start it. Just like the endless pile of homework left on my desk from the excessive amounts of procrastinating, i really don't know where to start. "Keep moving keep moving", no, but seriously, where am i going? How frustrating. My life is feeling a little plain, boring and strange.

    The HSC analogy.

Okay, so i was meant to write this a while back ago when it was still fresh in my head but i keep putting it off. Anyway, if you had seen my fb status 2 months ago you would've seen something along the lines of " HSC is like being pregnant!". And incase you were wondering, that wasn't just some crazy remark without meaning. Well, let me explain. The HSC is like being pregnant, but of course you have a choice not to do it (like abortion right?!) but that's something that society still kind of looks down upon, sorry to say. Before you get to that stage of being "pregnant", you have a vague idea of what it involves, but of course just like pregnancy, not everyone's HSC experience will be exactly the same. The only difference is that now males can also be "pregnant" in this context, and oh, everyone gets "impregnated" from the same source, Mr BoS (pretty much getting literally screwed over). Now, over the course of your "HSC pregnancy", you will suddenly be faced with a giant responsibility to get that ATAR (which is your final result and in this context, the baby). In the HSC year, just like pregnancy, it is now more important than ever to stay healthy, unstressed and prepared. It is also the year of bumps and the time when you need family and peer support the most as well as finding out the people who really care for you. Complications will no doubt also arise over this course and assessments will probably involve a lot of people feeling nauseous. And of course, the hardest part is "giving birth" or really, the real HSC exams, but thankfully by that stage, the pain is nearly over. Hence, the ATAR is born! and oh hehe, in this context, ugly people can still damn right give birth to ultra hot looking ATARs, 99.95 ATAR anyone?!

Yeah, i don't know why i found this pic of me so amusing at the time. Yum yummm.
